magnetic pickup
Can I use a magnetic pickup for the ignition?

Yes there are variables that apply depending on the setup and code you are planning to use. Look up the info in the ignition setup section of the code manual that applies.
There are very low minimum RPM values but there are minimum RPMs for reliable pickup with some systems and a minimum triggers per cylinders/rev's per cycle and other constraints if triggering ignition. Again, it varies dependent on code and is fairly simple, but best understood in the specific manuals rather than blanket "except/if/when/but" statements.
