Throttle body placement

Post by bionicbelly »

I have a M10 BMW, 1982. the manifold i am using turns the throttle body back toward the motor. the thing is, I put my injectors right in the head and now the TB (90's ford tuarus V6) won't clear the fuel rail. What i am thinking of doing is making a flange to fit the manifold, one to fit the TB, and putting a 10" piece of pipe in between them that is bent to get over the fuel rail. It will be a gradual arc, not like two 90's or anything drastic like that. On the 320i forum, the resident wise man (also a squirter) told me that it would raise my torque slightly because this essentially raises plenum volume, but 10 inches sounds like alot. I am inclined to agree, but i have little to no experience in this area. any help/advice is appreciated. BTW, this is a turbo application.
BMW, I'm a big fan.

I had actually thought about that, but i am using a mitsu turbo that has a BOV built into the housing. I did read the thread about the TB before the turbo, and it is some good stuff. maybe someday...
