The MegaSquirt Project has experienced explosive growth other the years, with hundreds of new MS installations occurring every week - a phenomenal success! MegaSquirt has been successfully used in all aspects of Internal Combustion engine applications including R&D, Industry, Race, and Research. The MS project has transformed itself from a simple R&D project into a full-featured mature engine control system. To reflect this the support structure has also changed to meet the needs of MegaSquirt Users.
Moving forward, the R&D forums for MegaSquirt project are in a read-only mode - no new forum posts are accepted.
However the forums will remain available for view, they still contain a wealth of information on how MegaSquirt works, how it is installed and used. Feel free to search the forums for information, facts, and overview. While the R&D forum traffic has slowed in recent years, this is not at all a reflection of Megasquirt users, which continue to grow year after year. What has changed is that the method of MegaSquirt support today has rapidly moved to Facebook, this is where the vast majority of interaction is happening now. For those not on Facebook the msextra forums is another place for product support. Finally, for product selection assistance, all of the MegaSquirt vendors are there to help you select a system, along with all of the required pieces to make it complete.
PalmLog does not appear to work with a Tungsten T, I don't know about the T2. The TT freezes up. I doubt that the radio system you are thinking about will work as the code does not interface with the card. If you just want to datalog, go for a hard wired Palm Vx if using MS2, as the datalogs have more fields. A V is fine for MS1. Have a look at the Palm compatibility thread if you haven't already. A radio system that uses RS232 for the Palm and for the MS would be more likely to work, using the card on any Palm will not work at this stage. The source code is available however. There has been development on Bluetooth with Palm but it is not finished at this stage.
In order to have a hope of connecting to MS, the Palm MUST have serial comm capability. Those devices without the 'universal connector' do not have serial comm. Here's a list:
So, the Tungsten T doesn't work?
I sure hope the T2 works as I just bought one, also with the hopes of using the Bluetooth option in the future. Could someone update the list of usable Palms etc. and make it a sticky? There are so many spin-off threads that it's hard to decipher what works, (and with what hardware), and what doesn't. I appreciate your offering of the open source code, but I don't know enough about it to offer up any suggestions, much less troubleshoot it. I'm still forced to stand on the shoulders of giants.

My Tungsten T does not work with PalmLog, so I log with the Palm Vx. There seems to be a very large number of Palm devices out there : ) Therefore each MS-er using a new untested Palm seems to find out themselves whether it will work or not (if it is previously untested by someone else). For an example there are differences in the serial protocol between Tungsten T and T3 that I know of through a different forum that was tuning a particular stock bike ecu with certain software that worked great on Palm V, Tungsten T, Tungsten E2 but not on a Tungsten T3. The Palm OS serial communication may have subtle changes from one revision to another. The Tungsten series use 5.X OS, and the older Palms run OS 4.0 or 4.1, and on these older Palms, the PalmTune and PalmLog apps that renns has written are all but guaranteed to work. If it works on a later Palm, then well and good. You may find that your T2 works fine despite my TT having issues. The apps were developed on Palms with OS 3.53 and 4.0. Roger (renns) has put a lot of time into doing what he has and he has the source code available if anyone wants to develop it further. I think the main problem is that the Palm people keep changing the details of how serial communications is handled, so to modify an application to suit all models would be a permanent part-time job. I think I have read here somewhere of much later Palms or Palm/phones working fine too. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
