flow rate for bosch 0-280-156-205? searched

Post by cricha5 »

Does anybody know or can find out the flow rate for the stock injectors of off a 2006 ford ranger i4 duratec engine? They are yellow and have the bosch code 0-280-156-205 and the ford code 4L5G-AA. I searched all the sites from the sticky, but this injector is absent in all of them. It should be similar to whatever injectors they are putting on the ford focus, mazda 3, and miata, but I don't think they are identical. If anyone can help, it would really help me with tuning this duratec engine that I'm putting into my 93 240sx. Thanks.

I found out that ford injector part numbers are actually a bit longer than the print on the injector, because the part in the middle only means that it's an injector.

I ended up having to take one of the injectors that I couldn't identify down to a ford dealership and went a couple rounds with the gentleman at the parts counter as we figured out just what it was.
It turned out that they'd had the part number superseded a couple of times and the old parts weren't easily found, but it was possible.

With your donor vehicle being as new as it is, you may have a much easier time getting the info about them than I did, but I would definitely encourage a trip to the dealer to help sort out the part numbers.

The dealer says they can't help. I called Ford and a nice young lady called me back a few days later and said she was told to tell me "80 to 180". No units or anything, just that. I emailed Bosch and they haven't replied for over a week. I'm nearing the point where I'm going to have to buy a whole new set of injectors, just so I'll know the flow rate.

That's strange, both that they can't help, and that the lady didn't give you any unit of measure.
Then again, with that wide a spread in the range she gave, it doesn't really sound like a unit would make it much more useful!

Sorry I can't help more, I was scratching my head on the little injectors that I bought.
They were from a relatively late model Crown Victoria, but they were the Design 3 injector type, that look like a 1/4" sewer junction. Straight body, with the connector branching off the side near the supply end.

I finally found out that they were 19 lb/hr injectors, which does make sense considering that they came out of a 4.6liter engine that would have made around 200-250 hp.

For that matter, if you want to get a relative range for them, calculate the hp of the engine and the rough fuel requirement to get that out of the engine.
One of the other recent threads had Lance explaining the math for it better than I could attempt to do so.

This is probably no help at all but 0 280 150 161 are 200cc/min

I recently came across this list of Bosch injector data http://hem.bredband.net/thedagger/Bosch ... r_data.xls, I don't know who compiled it or how but it's pretty extensive and according to that (if I'm reading it correctly) your injectors flow 195cc/min at 300kPa (43.5psi) test pressure.

Thank you! That is the most complete and thourough list that I've seen yet. It should be added to the sticky.

Anybody using that spreadsheet should be warned. As excellent as it is, the flow was tested with heptane which has a different density than petrol. I found a nice spreadsheet calculator online that will convert everything for you. According to the spreadsheet, my injectors flow 22.34 lb/hr at 380 kPa.
