req fuel valuefor an ABA vw

Post by jrocco »

Im curious as to what my req fuel should be. I have it set at 16.6 right now an have been driving the car for quite a while. However, I am using a narrow band o2 and cannot get the car to idle around the stoich area. My sensor reads around .8 to .91. If I try to lean it out the engine just sputters then hunts and wants to die. I am unable to get a leaner mixture with my current settings. The car has a turbo an under boost I never see it go lean unless I am under decel. I know a NB sensor is not the ideal way to tune but at the moment thats all I am able to use. WB is in the very near future.

Most batch fire cars like to run a little bit rich at idle. Required Fuel is simply a base pulse width that is multiplied by the VE percent; changing the VE would accomplish the same thing.

I can understand that but does this seem like a reasonable number for a 2000cc engine? When you use the calculator in megatune the numer that it gives to start with is 6.7.

Remember that the req_fuel number is cut in half if you run simultaneous instead of alternating.
FWIW: My req_fuel is 9.6 running a turbo ACVW, and burning E85. I'm set at simultaneous as well.

MS-II W/spark burning E85
The sand must be punished.
