I am considering fitting a knock sensor on my 5 liters Mercedes V8 engine that was not originally equipped with, but I don’t know where to fit it. I read the best location was in the valley between the two cylinder banks but there is no place to fix any senor there and it is absolutely not accessible once the intake manifold is in place:

I heard later models had their knock sensors on the engine brackets. There are several possible locations: one is next to the bottom of cylinder n°6, using that threaded hole, or that stud further down. Only problem is that these are used to hold the A/C Compressor bracket in case I want to put it back. Any of the three brown bolts on the block around the engine brackets are capping oil lines, so I guess I’d better leave them alone.

Another solution would be to fix the sensor to one of the engine bracket bolts, or to drill and tap the engine brackets of fix the sensor on the top or bottom of the bracket:

Would any of these locations be OK for a knock sensor? Which one would be the best?
Thanks in advance
