EDIS VR sensor polarity

Post by kjones6039 »

I picked up a VR sensor from Boost Engineering. The wires on the pigtail are light green and dark blue w/orange trace. I have looked everywhere trying to find out which wire is which.

Has any one seen these colors or have any idea which wire is +/-?

Thanks for any help with this,

Ken,

VR sensors don't have a + and -. You can use either wire for a signal, BUT the signal is inverted on one wire compared to the other. This is important if you are using an EDIS module with the sensor (which you may be, and will want to get the wires right - maybe a factory service manual will show the wire colors and connections to the module), but not so important if you are wiring the sensor to the VR input circuit - you just have to use the correct trigger edge.

There is much more on this, and how to find the correct edge to trigger on, here: http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/pickups.htm#vr

Lance,

I should have noted that I Intend to use the EDIS-8 module. It's hard to tell what car the unit came from so it might be a challenge finding the correct shop manual. I suppose all I need to do is get it started based on my best guess and if it doesn't work all I should have to do is reverse the wires.

While I have you cornered.... did you tell me at one time to jumper R37 & R38 when using PWM on this lo-z TB?

Thanks as always,

It doesn't matter what car the EDIS 8 module originally came from. The modules are all the same.
this is a link to the EDIS module wiring diagrams in the MegaSquirt Manuel, scroll down near the bottom of the page
