no tach signal

Post by lemingmw82 »

I am running a MSD hall effect sensor pn 4154 for a briggs and stratton engine. my MS-II is not recieving any kind of tach signal from the sensor. As of right now I have the sensor wired to a 12v source and grounded on its own ground (I did not use pin 2 on the harness to ground) and the signal to the tach signal wire. I ran a volt meter on the sensor and I am getting a pulse when the magnet is in the precence of the sensor. the volt meter reads 12.3 volts normally and then 11.2 volts in the precence of the magnet. I am not sure if this is enough of a change to work. anybody have any experiance with this?

thanks,

Mike

Mike,

You need to sensor to come much closer to ground (less than a volt).
