forgive a noob but need an educated answer

Post by b-blown »

I am doing a 2.3t Ford ,,and i have a Procomp Dizzy (MSD Knockoff) and I have the Ford 4 tower coil and I have been reading and honestly my brains a bit overwhelmed ,,,can I use the dizzy JUST as a signal for MS and use the coil in wasted spark .it has a 4 vane rotor and I "think" its a hall effect sensor this will be on a MSII V3.57 (I think IIRC)

heres a cpl pics of the reluctor and sensor

See if you can figure out how it's going to know which coil to fire going by the signal from the distributor. All four pulses are going to look the same, so it can't be done without either adding more sensors, or using a different wheel pattern.

I understand removing a tooth will (should) work but wanted confirmation before hacking up a new dizzy

I hope you haven't, as that doesn't work either. In addition to a method of cylinder identification, you also need at least one pulse per cylinder.
