Looking for EDIS8 VR sensor bracket ideas

Post by patrickbrown »

Hey All,

I have a small block Ford V8. I starting my EDIS8 install. I've been staring at the front of my engine thinking about how to get this sensor attached. I plan to install the trigger wheel between the balancer and pulley. There is spacer in there now that I'll narrow on a lathe to make room for the wheel.

I'm thinking about building and attaching the sensor bracket to the oil pan bolts.

Any ideas and/or photos would be welcome.

Thanks,
Patrick Brown

Mount the trigger in an accessible spot for replacement (not likely) & make sure you use shielded trigger wire cable thta ties into the module's and ms input shield's .. make's for a noise free ignition , and the coil condenser ! , don't forget that

otherwise rock on , I'm running my 2.5 dodge on EDIS 4 and it helped me burn a hole in a piston under boost :) had to find the end of the engine and am currently rebuilding it !

We had a customer send us very detailed pictures of his install on a Ford Bronco here:

I'd try and mount the sensor rather higher than the sump fixing level - to prevent any possibility of it getting whacked by road debris.
I have an RV8. and although brackets are made for this they wouldn't fit because of the PS pump location on my installation.

I made one out of 1/4" thick ally strip attached to (longer) water pump mounting bolts. Ebay can be a good source of small amounts of such materials if you don't have a supplier close.

I just finished the EDIS setup. Thanks Matt for the Bronco link. I did a similar setup but on the other side. I have a spare engine on hand so I used it for mocking up the parts. Here are some photos.

The engine is running again and I only needed to set the trigger offset to -3.

That's a good idea using the fuel pump boss.

Did you get any false triggers cause of the wheel not exceeding the diameter of the balancer

None. I set the vr to clear the teeth about .050" and all was good.
