Not getting a battery reading in MegaTune

Hey,

MS2, V3 with stim 2.21

I'm up to step 41 where you look at the "Realtime Display".

All previous steps and tests have been successful.

The processor was flashed with v2.892 and the corresponding .ini files were copied in.

I get the time counting, but the battery is reading at 0V. It does the same thing using a 9V battery with 9V on it, or a 12V power supply.


Testing the voltage on the regulator I get a good ground on the center pin and 5V on the RH pin. The LH pin I seem to be getting around 0.7 volts less than stim voltage (whether that be 9 or 12).

All soldering so far seems to be good, have gone through and remelted all joints to ensure they are not dry, put a touch more solder on some of them but that hasnt changed anything.

Upon startup of Megatune I get the following Warning: Submenu entry references dialog id 'knockThreshold,' which cannot be found.

Within Megatune, the 'very ECU communication" check works, the "SET ECU" indicator goes green when I apply power, but the Battery Low indicator is always red.

So, not really sure where the problem is. Is there a specific part of the circuit that will feed the DB9 the voltage?

I have just put up a new INI that should fix the 'knockThreshold' error: http://www.megamanual.com/files/ini/

R3 (50K Ohms) and R6 (10K Ohms) on a V3 board are used for the voltage sensing circuit. Make sure they are in place and the correct values (check the assembly manual).

Also make sure the bootloader jumper is not on the bootloader header on the main board. MS-II uses it's own bootloader header on the daughtercard. The one on the main board is not used for loading code, but if it is shorted it will affect the voltage reading.

All that was fine. Still not getting any voltage. Just finished cleaning the board off of flux and still no good.

Measure the voltage across the two points of the H1 boot header on the main board (not the daughter card) with the MS powered up. What voltage do you read?

~1V across the bootloader pins.

This is with about 8V battery voltage.

... that seems strange? I don't know what it's meant to be though.

It should read about 1/6 of battery voltage as there's a voltage divider circuit to divide it down to something the processor can handle. I suspect you may have corrupted firmware - try reloading it, and do not load a MSQ.
