More component substitutions (UK)
I'm trying to get a parts list together on RS electronics for a complete megasquirt v3 board. Unfortunately some parts are not available. The parts in question are:
Q16 - VB921 Coil Driver
U4 - IXDI404PI FET Driver
L1,L2 - 70F106AI-RC Choke
Q22,Q23 - ZTX553 Transistor
I have read the forums and found that the FET driver U4 can be replaced with an MC34151P, so long as D21 is changed from a 36V zener to an 18V type, this is the route I am going to take.
I have found a replacement inductor, http://uk.rs-online.com/web/search/sear ... 0&x=40&y=8 . I think this will work fine, but a confirmation would be great.
Could Q22 and Q23 be replaced with this part, http://uk.rs-online.com/web/search/sear ... &x=13&y=20 ?
Aas for the coil driver, I know the BIP373 is a better replacement but I cannot find that either. Would this work... http://uk.rs-online.com/web/search/sear ... 64&x=9&y=4
Thanks in advance for your help,
Dan

Re: More component substitutions (UK)
Unfortunately, it's the only known component on the market in a TO-220 package with all those features - an ignition driver with both overcurrent protection and thermal shutdown. If there had been a more common component out there with these features, we would have used it - you won't believe how difficult it was to talk Bosch into selling those things to us.dannybeckett wrote:do you have any reccomendations which do include all the features of th bip component?

Just get the BIP from DIY - even with shipping, it'll be a worthwhile investment if you never ever have to replace a burned ignition driver!
