Error on step 40 trying to load MSII Code

Post by 95EclipseGS »

Hey, i bought a used MS-II kit on a V3 board from and engineer that i know, he was building it but then sold his eclipse. it was assembled right up to step 22, and when i did the power test in step 22, i was getting 4.3 volts across the socket. Then when i did the check for the comm port everything went fine, and i proceeded. However now at step 40, i get this error message when trying to load the newest code onto the MS-II daughterboard:

File read successfully.

Opened comm port 3 at 115200.
Erasing main FLASH:
ERROR: Unknown error status response, e=0x00
Elapsed time: 0.36 seconds

When i was writing this, i did another test and just got this:
MegaSquirt Download 2.00

Reading C:/Users/Ryan/Desktop/Monitor_v2.905.abs.s19:
Detected MS-II (HCS12) code.
Entry point: 0x0000
Code range : 0x4000-0x3db360
File read successfully.

Download failed:
Could not open comm port 3.
Exception caught: 2

Got this as well:

When i ran Hyperterminal it started spamming a triangle-like character, but would not let me copy it onto here.

Im only 17 this stuff is all completely new to me so if theres something really obvious i missed just let me know

Also none of the LEDs on the stim have lit up, they never have, idk if they are supposed to

Are you using a USB adapter or a direct serial connection?

I'll need to check if it's powering up OK. To check for power in the Megasquirt PCB, power up the Megasquirt on a Stimulator or on the car and check the following points for voltage with a multimeter.

You should find the same voltage as the battery voltage on the following points: S12, S12C, the center legs of Q9 and Q12, the left (non-banded) end of D3, the left leg of U5, and the left (banded) end of D9.

You should have 5 volts at the following points: S5, the two +5V holes in the proto area, the right (non-banded) end of D9, the right leg of U5, the left (banded) end of D19, and pins 1, 20, and 31 of the CPU.

Let me know where you find the correct voltages, and where you find the wrong ones.

Thanks for the help but when my dad came home we did a couple tests and found out that some resistors were not soldered well, redid those and it worked the first try!
