Once downloaded you can use MS-II Downloader to install it.

It would be nice if someone could write out an 'idiots guide' for installing new code referred to TunerStudio.

Re: MS-II Downloader v2.00
1 Power off your MegaSquirt® controller, put the bootloader jumper in place, and power it back up - it will now be in 'bootloader mode' waiting for code.
2 Open the downloader application (MS Download 2.00),
3 Click on the menu item 'File/Updates'.
4 Select the appropriate ftp site ('megamanual.com/updates/MS-II/' for MS-II, for example), click on the code package (*.msu, ms2_2.884.msu for example) you want to install, and select the target project from the drop-down boxes,
5 Then click 'install',
6 T he installation will proceed automatically. Note that the S19 file is not save on your hard drive, instead it is transferred directly from the MSU file to MegaSquirt®.
Step 4 is the problem. No code package appears. Just "Could not connect".

I have never gotten that page to work!wrongear wrote:Select Source Site -could not connect; like it's trying to connect to ; megamanual.com/updates/MS-II/ but can't find the target. I'm stumped.
That's why I originally suggested installing the fw manually, using MS Downloader.

Re: MS-II Downloader v2.00
The update did work until about a year ago, when we switched servers. It no longer works, and we have no plans to make it work.
The MSU concept was sound in some respects, but people didn't get updated INIs when it might have helped them with certain issues. The MSU update files were also aimed at the now obsolete MegaTune file structures, and all newer codes are intended to be run with TunerStudioMS only (the reasons are on the code page).
So the best bet is to go to the code page at http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/code.htm to get the latest code and INI and install them using the instructions there (as Ken says).

I'd be glad to write you a step-by-step, maybe tomorrow. Just a bit busy with the day job!wrongear wrote:Lance; It's been over a year that I've been working on this problem. I beg you, I will pay you, I will allow my wife to spend some quality time with you, PLEASE end my suffering, just pretend I'm 4 years old & spell out step by specific step how this is done. I've been working on the page you sited, downloaded so many files I need a larger hard drive.

What code version do you want to use? Using TS or MT? Win7 is not a problem BTW......
At my age the fruit basket will work just fine!

I understand, believe me! With a little patience we'll get you going......You have no idea how frustrating this is.

EDIT: I just thumbed through some of your early posts. I see you had some problems at that time. Did you get those worked out? If so, do you have TS installed and communicating with MS on your stim?

Re: MS-II Downloader v2.00
Guys,The downloader doesn't work; we are all in aggreement.
No. The downloader DOES work. What doesn't work is the file/update function of the downloader. The rest of the downloader works fine. The downloader was designed to download an S19 file to the MegaSquirt controller, and it always has done that well. The ability to download S19 files from the Internet was added much later, and is not an essential function in any way.
The instructions here: http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/code.htm are as clear as I can make them without making them so long that people would complain about that. I really couldn't help anyone who can't follow those instructions (since I would just be repeating them). Of course, if users have specific questions about specific steps in the instructions, by all means ask away!

Re: MS-II Downloader v2.00
My toes are fine, and no offence taken at all. I just meant that I can't think of a way to be any clearer for wrongear than the instructions currently are (the posted instructions above are old though, and newer ones are in place that might help).
I may be a bit blinded, though, because I have done this procedure so often (literally many 1000's of time!).
Someone else, like you, might be able to be more clear/explicit/compatible for wrongear, and make fewer assumptions about the process.
So by all means, please help him if you can, and if you feel like it, post the instructions here and I will add them to the manual as a 'comprehensive guide' if you like (with credit to you, of course).
Lance.

Re: MS-II Downloader v2.00
If I may be so bold, the page is very busy, and might be overwhelming for some people. If I was to make one suggestion, it would be to move the historical info (green V1.0 and the fine-print notes) and the serial comms info to separate pages. This might then allow the removal of the blue box and distracting animation.
The actual instructions on using the downloader are clear, but they are halfway down the page after a pile of UFI.
The serial info could certainly be left in situ, but clarity might be improved by making a sharper distinction between the download and serial sections - larger gap, dividing line, bolded title?
