IDL led won't light on V3 MSII wired for stepper

Post by DougieD »

I think I've picked up in other threads that this is normal but I want to be sure. WUE on the TunerStudio interface and the WUE led on the MS box both seem to be functioning proper relative to CLT. But I have no IDL led on the stim. Like I put in the subject, the MS is configured for a stepper IAC. Is what I'm seeing okay?

Thanks for any insight! Doug

Doug,

Yes, that's the appropriate behaviour for the stim when you have the code configured for a stepper motor IAC.

For testing warm-up enrichment on the stim, you can reconfigure the IAC as a PWM, and set the values from 0 to 100%, and you should see the LED dim and brighten with large temperature changes. That won't tell you much about the stepper's behaviour, though.

Set the values under FUEL SETTINGS > IDLE CONTROL? I didn't see where I could specify anything from 0 to 100%. My apologies if this is obvious. I may be showing my newness here.

On a side note I did jumper pin 20 to 34 as I have seen in other posts that this is a method to test the IDL led on the stim and it does light up. So thats good.

Thanks for the help Lance!

Doug,

See the "Idle Steps" and "Idle PWM Duty Cycle " table described here: http://www.megamanual.com/mt29.htm#ed

The same physical table (i.e. the same locations in memory) is used for both PWM and stepper motor logical table valves, but the values aren't generally compatible (PWM runs 0-100%, steppers run 0 to 300 steps). I believe the defaults are for a stepper motor. If you change the idle valve type (under 'Idle Control/Algorithm') you generally have to change this table's values as well.
