Testing the ECU on the car W/O injectors hooked up?

Post by skikir »

I'm doing the install in steps. I've got the wiring and mounting done but I still have the carbs on so I have not installed the throttle bodies or O2 sensors because I wan to keep the car down time as little as possible. I'm doing initial testing. I have checked the temp sensors and calibrated the TPS but have not started the car with the ECU powered on. I want to check to see if I get tach signal from the coil. Is there any danger in starting the car W/O the injectors connected? Should I put a load on the injector leads or something? I am using an older Allison Electronic ignition module for spark for now.

The injector drivers ground out the coils; they don't provide power. If the injectors aren't connected, no current flows = no power = no problem.
