Hall sensors

Post by 8803 »

DIYAutoTune has (2) Hall sensors available which seem to be used with steel trigger wheels. Does anyone know the width (not thickness) of the teeth that these sensors can be used with. Is there a width range? The wheels shown are square and pointed tooth wheels. Also they seem to be used as VR sensors. Is this because there are no magnets in the wheel?
Thanks for any help.

The sensor has a 2-2-2 rule for the recommended minimum. 2 mm trigger wheel thickness, teeth must be at least 2 mm wide, the gaps must be at least 2 mm deep.

The trigger wheel I have is 4" in diameter with 35 teeth and 1 missing tooth. It is 1/8" thick steel. the teeth are 0.158 wide and the gap is 0.158 wide and 0.188 deep. Will this work with either of your sensors?

1/8" is 3.2mm 0.158 is 4mm 0.188" is 4.8mm. Near enough. So you are well within tolerance.
