TFI FORD with CCD

Post by skippy2235 »

I have been playing with this for days.
I am using a MS2 ver 3.
Have done all the TFI Mods.
I am so confused. by reading here I just learned that MS will still utilize the SPOUT plug. In all the reading of manuals, I have done, not once have I seen this.
I am bench testing my system by turning the Dissy by hand, and can tell you this.
Without spout, IDM, PIP connected to the MS, I get spark wih no fuel pumps or injectors.
I MUST connect the IDM wire to pin 24 of the MS. If I do this I get spark and fuel pumps and injectors to turn on.
If I connect the MS pin36 spout wire, to the spout wire on engine, I loose all spark and pumps.
If I connect engine PIP wire to pin24, loose all spark and pumps

How do wire this up to my distributor, None of your manuals talk about the IDM.
What settings do I need to change to get the spout and PIP to work.

So here is what I have learned, hope this helps someone else.
Do NOT use the IDM wire. Connect the PIP and SPOUT wires like the directions state. I can NOT remove the spout shunt and still get spark like the OEM setup.
Reason the STIM was not working correctly was, Q16 was missing the Mica isolation to ground.
also had a 330 and 1K resistor swapped.

You'll typically want to set the CCD modules to around 2.0-3.0 ms dwell and 1.5 ms maximum spark duration instead of trying to get a square wave signal.
