There is also a page on the site that is a work in progress:

I will continue to add detail as I go along.

Re: MegaLogViewer VE Analysis Manual

I keep screwing up with Megalog and VE analyzer......again.
Could you take me step by step from the point that I open the newly crated
log, right after I open Megalog viewer?
Here is what I do:
Create Log from Megatune
Save log "as"
Close Megatune
Open Megalog viewer
File open
Highlight Excel log file
Ok, here's where I am doing something wrong.-
Do I open VE analyzer first or save it or save as?
Do I need to go back into Megatune and open the new MSQ or can I save the
changes to the MSQ that I was using ? OR???
Thank you in advance for your help

Re: MegaLogViewer VE Analysis Manual
Now when you open this log in MegaLogViewer, you want to open the msq too.
MegaLogViewer always automatically opens the last msq you had open. So, if you always save to the same file name, this will be automatic, if you saved to a different filename, you need to make sure you open the one you saved with the log.
Now run VE Analyze.
Make any adjustments you might want to.
Click Accept Changes.
When done, there are 2 ways you can bring the data back.
The traditional way:
While still in MLV, Click "Save MSQ". That will save to the same file you have open, alternatively you can Click Save MSQ As
Then Switch to MegaTune or TunerStudio and From the Menu:
File --> Open Tune (msq)
On MegaTune it is just
File --> Open
When prompted to burn to ECU, click yes.
~~~~~~~
Alternative method, you might find this method preferable as you don't need to use an msq.... but it only works if you are using TunerStudio.
- Select the entire table by dragging the mouse from the top, left most cell to the bottom right most.
- Right Click
- Select Copy
- Switch to TunerStudio
- Open the same VE Table (ie VETable1)
- Select the Top, left most cell
- Right Click
-Select Paste
If you haven't changed the RPM and Map Bins you can keep taking the table from TS to MLV and Back using copy/Paste.
Re: MegaLogViewer VE Analysis Manual
So I am running an MSQ that is already saved and burned to the ECU.
I create and save the log then bring them both up while in MLV, run VE analyzer, accept the changes and hit "save" if I want to implement the changes to the same MSQ file - right?
Re: MegaLogViewer VE Analysis Manual
Remember the msq's are just a way to back up or exchange a configuration. The Controller is always the system of record.
Re: MegaLogViewer VE Analysis Manual
I did have a running data log (about 15 mins) brought up in MegaLogViewer to. I was able to open my tune with analyzer and it showed my current VE table. When I clicked on VE analyzer is when I had problems. When you ask what firmware I'm guessing you mean what Megasquirt version I'm using?? Megasquirt II V 2.920.
Re: MegaLogViewer VE Analysis Manual
That should be fine.
Check the MegaLogViewer setting:
Options --> Field Naming (ECU)
make sure it is still set to Auto.
