Alternatives to the DIY relay board?

Has anyone used a fuse/relay box that is not from DIY Auto Tune? I have one already installed and just don't car for it under my hood. Hoping people have tried other boxes (aftermarket or different cars) and what your experience has been with installing.

Not really seen the point in using a board as such. You can get relay bases which clip together and fit clips which you attach to the body. So the wiring goes direct to the relay terminal rather than via a connector on the board.

I've been working on a rugged design for a while now, a fully-sealed unit with solid-state relay/breakers and the Cinch ModICE ME enclosure. I'm about ready to go to prototype. It will be significantly more expensive than the 'open' type from DIY or Summit, but won't be affected by weather, vibration, being installed upside-down or completely submerged.

Yes. Each circuit has it's own fuse. FWIW.... There is also a 5 relay version of this unit.

We recently introduced a new set of fuse blocks, although they don't include relays.

Well, I will be trying one of these solutions, or an OEM one, this spring as my relay box is getting too frequent at cutting power :/

Might consider trying to find an OEM one with spare slots for expansion. I would imagine it shouldn't be too complicated to adapt an OEM block to a MS. Just trying to find a good block that has a good casing so I don't have to worry about getting it wet.

So, I have been doing a little research and curious if someone can answer my noob questions.

To mimic the relay board on a standard relay setup, would I just split the ground, power and ignition sources into 3 each and run each to a relay?

Does anyone have a general layout of how the relay board is laid out? My goal is to wire my relay/fuse block into a DB37 plug so I don't have to chop up the harness I have running to the engine bay.

Or do I just try and follow this? Not sure cause the relay board has 3 relay's, but this only lists 2.

The third relay on the board would be removed for that schematic, because it is for the Idle Air Control Valve. When using a PWM valve, you bypass the relay, since a relay can't switch on and off nearly fast enough for a PWM valve's operation.

For some relay setups that are controlled check out like a 98 Escort, under the battery is a box called a CCRM or Constant Control Relay Module it has like 4 or 5 relays inside and they are like 40 or 50 amp relays. Snag one from JY with the plug, bolts in easy and it has two fan relays, fp relay, ecu relay, ac relay.
And you can source them from suppliers and ford dealers.
Also you can source them from Mustangs, Taurus, 73-70030 is A1 cardone reman number from 95-2002 windstar, and others. Most have several heavy duty relays and its mot hard to repair them or install a different board and just use the heavy duty relays.
I adapted several of these to cars for convenience.
