FORD EDIS RPM READING ABOUT HALF OF ACTUAL

Post by Army of Six »

Did a EDIS conversion and everything worked great. I then switched from a MPI to a TBI setup and now my rpm's are about half of actual. i cant figured out what it could be. The only changes I made were to the fuel settings. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Chevy 4.3L V6
EDIS 6
MS II PCB 3.0 v2.89

here is a MSQ and a datalog. RPM was staedy just half what it should be. I am aware of the VE values etc being off. I just started to retune the fuel setti ng with the new TBI.

Maybe I should clarify. The motor runs ok. Idles ok at approx 850-900 rpm but in mega tune it shows me idling at 350-400. And the injectors on my tbi are high impedance.

Where are you getting your tach signal from EDIS?

MegaTune? Really? Why not TunerStudio?

A couple things with your msq!

2.89 code is getting a bit old now, I think. You might consider upgrading!

6 cylinders with 4 injectors? Makes calculating Required Fuel a bit difficult.

Cranking speed = 190? Awfully low!

These have nothing to do with your rpm issue but just something I noticed that will effect your tuning efforts.

Hey Ken. Thanks for the reply. I know the stuff is dated. I pulled it years ago then recently decided to put fuel injection back on. Already had mega tune and my ini files Etc ready to go. That being said tonight I will be installing tuner studios and 3.3.3? tonight. The low cranking rpm was an attempt to solve a starting issue which I wasn't able to. ThAts why I went back to a TBI. I fabricated the TBI with four #48 injectors (left over from another project).

As for the tach signal, I am getting it from pin 1 (pip) on the EDIS. My tach signal in mega tune was perfect since the recent Edis install I don't know. But there she sits :(

Update. I downloaded and installed v2.920 and tuner studios ( big thumbs up so far). So far my rpms are looking good after the update. Must have been a glitch in the older version.
