How to drive injector for simple cleaning...

Post by Volvo740Best »

Hi all!

In this days I realized my ultrasonic machine for clean the injectors.
I not know how I can drive injector for open it.
I think direct 12V no good...

Anyone can help me with simple circuit with push button, for drive low and high injector?
When I press push button, injector open, when I release push button injector close.

Very Thanks!

Best Regards!

Bruno.

Hi Bruno, I have seen guys use D cell batteries for a very simple injector driver and it's very unlikely that enough current can be generated to hurt anything.

I used 12 volts and touched the wire to the battery on and off for less than a second repetidly i have also held one open for about 5 seconds the same way! Btw most of the injectors I cleaned were 12-15 ohm

Bruno,

If the injector is high impedence, a direct connection to 12v is okay. If it is a low impedence injector, add a resistor inline to keep the current under 2 amps following the guidelines here: http://www.megamanual.com/v22manual/minj.htm#injresist. In general, a 6 ohm, 25 watt resistor should work with most injectors and is a common value used in many factory injector resistor packs. I would use as much resistance as I could that still opens the injector - and be sure it is in the cleaning solution to keep it cool if opened for more that a few seconds.
