Injectors - opening and closing time specs seem odd...

Post by Shad Laws »

Hello-

I have a set of Siemens Deka 60 lb/hr injectors I'd like to use on my engine, and am a bit confused by the specs given to me by Racetronix (www.racetronix.com):

Static Flow Rate: 60.56 lb/hr = 668 cc/min = 458 g/min (+/-6%)
Dynamic Flow Rate 2.5ms PW @ 100Hz @ 600KPa: 19.5 mg/pulse (+/-6%)
Coil Resistance: 12 Ohms (This high-impedance injector will work with all factory ECM/PCM injector drivers)
Gain: 0.11ms/mg
Offset: 0.055ms
Turn on time @ 14VDC: 1.14ms
Turn off time: 0.85ms @ 600KPa
Spray Pattern: Cone (4-Hole)

In particular, the closing time (turn off time) seems outrageously high. From what I've read on this forum, it seems that turn off time has a lot to do with flyback damping. I dunno if it matters, but I have an MS2 v3.57, and have left all of the flyback damping circuitry in place.

Do these specs mean that the "opening time" I should input into MegaTune is 1.14-0.85 = 0.3 ms, or is something strange here?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Take care,
Shad
