I found in the manual you can use Mass air + map sensor. Is any one using this option? Or the mass air only option and the ford map. I will buy a wind band. What setup wound need less tuning.

From what I read if you are talking about a more or less stockish street application, if your engine already has a MAF keep it but if it doesnt have one now dont bother. You can always add one later. MAP is required for any setup because thats how the system judges the load on the motor.

Eldo, when you use the MAF sensor it replaces the MAP sensor as the primary load measurement device. The MAP sensor is used in the speed-density algorithm to estimate flow, while the MAF measures it directly. There may be other uses that require the MAP sensor (barometric correction, transient compensation) but for static use you should be able to toss the MAP if you have a MAF...

I just looked to see where I got my info and it must have been in the forum because I missed it or it was not yet in the manual when I was first looking. In the index it does not seem to be listed under sensors but it is listed in the MS2 Upgrade and MicroSquirt sections. Perhaps it could be included in the sensors section of the index also?

I want to know what system is easiest to setup and tune. I will be running a racing intake, cam, headers etc.. Will a speed-density tune fall apart if i change some thing like throttle body size? What about idle quality is one smoother than the other? What about max power?

Eldo, you very well could have read something like that on an older thread... I've noticed that Lance has been working on cleaning out the archives and getting rid of a lot of posts with misleading or incorrect info, so if you can't find it, I wouldn't be surprised.

They each have their strengths and weaknesses, see my recent post on the uSquirt forum above. MAF support is somewhat sketchy at this point and you'd be one of the very few using it (I'd guess that 98% of MS installations use SD).

Yes, changing mechanical aspects of an SD installation quite often requires retuning while MAF is more tolerant of such things. Tuning SD (or any other fueling algorithm) is pretty easy the second time.
