Software Reflash

Post by 1365keith »

After battling many issues that would come and go, I think I finally got to the bottom of the problems. My fuel pump would not come on all the time. Could never get it to fail on the bench. My coolant temp sensor sometimes would not read at all. Turning it on and off would sometimes fix the problem. Tuning was also an issue as I had the VE table down to 1 at idle at it was always rich and up to 255 at full throttle and it was always lean. Think ran like heck when it ran at all. I then reloaded the software and all my problems went away. The fuel pump and coolant have not been an issue since then. I loaded a default ve table from the megamanual and the thing ran almost perfectly. Had to richen up the upper end about 15% but that is it. This is the best the thing has run including when it had a carb. It has a fairly lumpy cam and the thing idles like a stocker at 800 rpm all day. About 1000 was the best with a carb. Little issue when I back off the throttle with the clutch in. The motor almost stalls and then catches itself and idles normally.

The moral is don't stop looking for answers. After over 2 months of struggling I have driven the car every day for 10 days and have not had to touch it.

Regarding your stumble when you back off it with the clutch in: Have you tried increasing your decel value a little in the AE?

The decel is set at 100% right now. I will do some playing this weekend. I just got my o2 sensor back today from being fixed(replaced). I will see if it is lean or rich. It almost feels rich but the 02 sensor will tell me the truth. It is just nice to have to thing run very well every well else. I can live with this if I have to but I think it is fixable.
