tuning tables

Post by squatch88 »

Hey does anyone have a table for a 351W, i'm curious on how serious it is when i change values extremely?
Anyone can just turn the key and go, but it takes determination to understand why it goes!

What exactly are you looking for? Which table? Which MS are you running and how is it set-up? More information is needed to answer you post.

the computer is a MS-II V3 and what i'm looking for is a example spark and VE table so i can figure out how to keep my motor from high idling at 1500+ and burning so much fuel. the manual speaks gibberish to me and all i want is a ACTUAL example on how the tables should look.

The tables aren't going to keep you from high-idling. You have too much air entering the manifold from somewhere. The MS is going to fuel the amount of air provided. The tables change the ratio of air-to-fuel for a given amount of air ingested by the engine, not necessarily the idle RPM. Do you have an IAC? Are you sure there is no manifold gasket leak? Is the idle adjust screw (if present) backed off enough? Vacuum line leak? Is the PCV valve OK? Do you have an O2 sensor? What is it reporting at the high idle? It doesn't take much of an air leak to idle at 1500. Also, log and msq would help a lot.Try to reread the basic docs carefully at leisure; understanding the physics and chemistry behind the whole system will really help you get a good, safe, efficient tune. It's an initially steep learning curve but once it "clicks" it's worthwhile to have spent the effort learning the basics. Also, the default tables from a new firmware load are safe decent values for a 350 SBC, if I'm not mistaken and should be close for for your app. I'm not 100% positive on this last thought as I personally have an app far removed from a 350 SBC.

well.... as it turns out it isn't a manifold leak but it was the air bypass solenoid. but this question will be for another part of the forums. Thanks for the help.
