EDIS-6 module output

I have a megasquirt-II upgrade and I'm installing a junkyard EDIS VR and module using a 36-1, 8" trigger wheel from DIY. I'm trying to set the timing for "limp home mode and I'm not getting a hot enough spark to trigger two different timing lights. I pulled #1 wire off its plug and put an old plug in it and grounded the plug to the chassis. I get a cyclic spark, but not very blue in color, more yellow. I unplugged the coil pack and attached a DMM to the red wire(+12vdc) and the other to the lead for one of the coils, in the plug comming from the EDIS module, and the voltage starts at approx. 12.5vdc and drops to a steady approx. 8.5vdc when cranking begins. I measured the resistance of the coils, from the terminal the red(+12vdc) lead connects to, to each of the other three terminals and read the same 1.2ohms for all three coils. I thing the EDIS-6 module isn't providing enough current for the coil pack, because the resistance seems reasonable to me. I can't find any info on how to test a module or coil pack, does anyone know to check these or if these values are good or where I can find the specs. Thanks, pj
