Trigger wheel gap EDIS
I have the wheel layed out for my hamonic balacer, is will a 0.15 gap from the balancer be ok. Thanks Dave

It's not real finicky. My gap is a solid 2-3mm and it's never given me any trouble. You're edging up near 4mm, though... that might be pushing it. I think 1-2mm is a good target.

Thanks but I'm talking about the spacing from the harmonic balance not the pickup to prevent false triggering

As long as the harmonic balancer has no cut-outs in it (like your toothed wheel does), it shouldn't interfere.
A photo of your balancer and toothed wheel would be very valuable here... along with some idea of where you intend to position the sensor. But, as long as the sensor is centered on the toothed wheel (from the side) or positioned to pick up the center of mass and center of void of each tooth (from the front), it shouldn't care what's around it.

Thanks Ill post a pic once I get the wheel back, the only cutout I have is the TDC mark and it's only about a 1/6. Thanks Dave

I dont think it will matter as long as your balancer is smooth. I have my trigger wheel welded directly to the crank pulley, with no gap at all. They are both the same size around and I have never experienced any false triggering. The only trouble I've ever had from the VR is the wiring breaking near the plug.

i had some bolt on trugger wheels made for the 5m/6m/7m toyota engines. the actual gap between the teeth and sensor i am running is 0.065in. works great. i got this gap from a guy using one of the trigger wheels i sold. says he tried a closer gap but was getting a dirty signal. it cleaned up at 0.060ish. set mine to 0.065 and works like a champ. i just need to fab a nicer looking bracket now that i got it up and running. this is the one i have for now.
