2007 Chevy 4.3L V6

Post by dhurn79 »

I recently purchased a '07 Chevy 4.3L V6 engine for my sand rail. I also got the MSII V3 and Stim Jim. Does anyone have a code for this motor? I have the MAF for the motor as well and would like to use it since it is going to be a stock application. There is also somthing different with the HEI module on the motor when compared to the ones on the support/manual site. It has a 4 pin HEI on there but it does not look anything like the ones shown, any ideas or concerns here? Any help with additional wiring info would be greatly appreciated since I am extremly new to the automotive computer application side. Have plenty of electrical and programming experience. :RTFM:

Thanks,

Hi Daniel,

This one looks like it's quite different from a classic HEI. As near as I can tell, it has a 12 volt Hall effect sensor on the crank reading a 3 tooth wheel (works like a more accurate distributor pickup) and I'd just use that with direct coil control.

With using that is there any special wiring I will need to do? Instructions are not clear on how to accomplish wiring in the new HEI. Any idea's?

See the sections of the manual on distributor pick-ups and direct coil control. The exact needs of this particular engine are not all that well documented and you may need to break a bit of new ground if you want to do this without swapping to an early distributor.

Had not thought of switching to a older style distributor. Might look into that as a option.

Thanks
