Need help with EDIS (no spark)

Post by 1bd81roccos »

Ok so I have the v3 main board and relay board running ford edis ign. I have fuel (plugs get wet after cranking) but no spark. On the megatune I have no RPM reading while cranking also it always says not cranking in the lower left corner. I have 2.5v on the "saw" going to the relay board and 0v on the "pip" from that I gather that the edis module isn't turning on. I've tried reversing the polarity of the sensor no dice. I have 12v at the module and the coil but no spark. I tried moving the sensor closer to the wheel no dice. Any ideas? I really need to get this car running

Does it work if you unplug SAW? If it doesn't, sounds like the module is faulty.

Hello there,
First of all verify wiring, and pay particular attention to that you have the pin numbering on EDIS module the
right way. The module has a 1 cast in close to pin 1 ( Which is PIP)
Then make sure that you have resistor plugs and or HT resistor wires .
The EDIS needs > 5kOms per spark circuit ( plug and lead) it might otherwise shut
down after a few sparks only.
Disconnect both PIP and SAW and try it out as a stand alone.
When switched on but not cranking you shall have a steady 12 V on PIP, pin 1.
When cranking pin 1 shall have a pulse per ignition event, a normal dvm will
show a reading on some 6-8 Volts.

If all above is correct , try reversing the VR wires , and make sure that the VR wire
is shielded as per the mnual and kept well away from HTwires.

EDIS is extremely tough , the hardware seems bulletproof and the function
impeccable.

Be methodical , follow then manual , and you will soon get a jolt out of it :)

If the EDIS module isn't working, it will not send an RPM signal to the MS, and if the MS doesn't get an RPM signal, you will get no fuel.

so got spark finally. It was the coil pack wasn't recieving a full 12v because i wired the power to the module then to the coil when i put the coil on its own power wire got spark.

but I still don't get an rpm signal in megatune..... any ideas on this one. Also megatune doest show throttle response I checked for resistance at the tps and it changes as you move the throttle, followed it all the way back to the ms and its there too but megatune isn't seeing it. It sees the tps because the gauge isn't red and it reads 8% all the time no matter if i calibrate it or not.
