94 Ford 3.0L 5.1 trigger wheel

Post by rickb794 »

94 Ford 3.0L has a 5.1 trigger wheel in the distributor.

Can this be used successfully?

Or do I need to ditch the distributor for a TFI?

Will I loose MS control of ignition events with a TFI?

Alternative would be converting to a EDIS trigger off the crank?

Perhaps I am looking at the trigger wheel wrong.

Is the wide gap not relevant depending on which edge (leading or trailing) being looked at?

This sounds like a "signature PIP" TFI. This can be made to work simply by running the right trigger edge.

Thanks and yes after double checking the trigger wheel one edge is symmetrical which will provide a good ignition trigger.
