MS2 V3 From EDIS to 60-2(?) without resoldering?

Post by Jonas »

Hello!

I currently have MS2 v3, code 2.880, With EDIS ignition. However Im having some problems fitting the Sensor, it vibrates too much so I get misreadings, and the timing is unstable.
So I want to take away the EDIS system, and replace it with the stock 60-2 on the flywheel, and use for instance direct coil control.

I was wondering what my options are without resoldering my MS2 V3?
If I have to resolder it I will have to find someone to do it for me, so therefore I would like to know my options without resoldering.

the car is a `88 Volvo 740 Turbo, with b230ft engine.

Thanks a lot in advance :)

Regards, Jonas

Slightly more than your options for installing a Jaguar V12 without welding. Unless the MS is already soldered up for VR input, it's not going to work with the stock sensor. You MIGHT be able to make it work if you switched to a Hall effect sensor and used a Bosch 124 ignition module, but it's still a fair number of hoops to jump through.

thanks for answering.

When I bought my MS, it was set up for the original VR sensor at the flywheel (60-2). After a while I decidet to go with EDIS, and gave the ms to the guy that built it and said I want EDIS now, so he took care of it. So it has been set up first with vr input, then modified to edis. after that the car has ben standing for 5 years, and now I want to go back again, but the guy who helped me the fist time is no longer avalible, so I have to figure something out.

Do you know how to "get it back" to VR input? I tried reading in the manual where it says how to build the thing, but cant seem to understand it enough that I want to give it a try just yet :) maybe if someone could describe what to do, I might give it a try :)

Thanks

You would change a couple soldered on jumpers - TachSelect needs to be wired to VRIN and TSEL wired to VROUT.

It really is a very simple job to do for one used to such things. Perhaps you could find a TV etc repair man? Soldering is easy when you know how - but an expensive MS is not the thing to learn on. You might even try here for someone who lives close to you.
