Check you haven't swapped PIP and SAW by accident.

Is it possible that Ford switch the position of the PIP and SAW on the terminal????? I bought the DB37 wiring harness from DIY and the shield wire on pin 24 is connected to pin #1 on the EDIS. The wire on pin 36 on the harness you can read see text. But where is that text  and that wire is not shielded. I connected that wire to pin#3 on the EDIS. I also test my megasquirt with the stim and i have RPM read. So i'm lost.

Processor? Code version? MSQ file? Datalog?

Yes.

Have you done the correct mods to the V3 board for EDIS?

V3.0 main board:

DB37 pin #36 to the SAW pin (#3) on the ignition module
DB37 pin #24 to the PIP pin (#1) on the ignition module
On the V3.0 main board:
use the 'Hall sensor circuit' (step #50.a in the assembly guide) - jumper D1 and D2,
jumper OPTOIN to TACHSELECT on the bottom side of the PCB, near the DB37 connector, opposite the heat sink,
jumper TSEL to OPTOOUT on the bottom side of the PCB, near the center.
jumper JS10 to IGN (this uses the processor port for the SAW signal directly),
jumper XG1 to XG2 on the bottom side of the PCB, near the 40 pin socket,

If you've done those mods, the pots make no difference as they're on the VR, not opto, input.

I follow the wire from pin#24 . It goes to tachselect, then jump to optoin. From optoin, it goes to a hole next to the G of Grippo and then i lost the track of the wire. Look like to me that the PIP signal goes nowhere :?:

I think that my optoisolator (U3) is faulty.

The strange thing is i got RPM when i use the stim but not in the car. I try to switch the VR wire but no spark when switching. And i test the continuity of the wire and the wires are OK.

If i use the stim,i move the fine RPM pots clockwise and the RPM jump from 0 to around 2500 and then go back to 0 and after that going to around 170. Help me chase the ghost.

Re: NO RPM solved

Post by orford2004 »

I was finally able to get RPM. My problem was that i bought my DB37 harness from DIY and the pin #24 was a black and a white wire shielded. The first time, i hook the 2 wires to my pin#1 on EDIS. WRONG After replace the module by 2 other ones, i suspect the terminal and then i decided to change it. And when i check the continuity on the wire, i realised that the black one was not connected with pin#24 on the DB37. So i hook the white one only to the pin#1 of the module and now i have RPM :yeah!:

Now time to do the fuel parts.
