best practices for updating firmware

For discussing Phil Tobin's TunerStudio MS is the MegaSquirt edition of TunerStudio, a next generation tuning application. It provides the ability to configure and tune all MegaSquirt controllers and is 100% compatible with MegaTune ini files and msq's.

best practices for updating firmware

Post by d495w »

I plan on upgrading the firmware on an MSII project from 2.905 to 3.830.
I upgraded a different project from 2.6xx to 2.920 and the process rather cumbersome.
Do to the many changes in the software over time, and my not staying current as the updates were released, I pretty much had to manually reenter most of the configuration settings for the project.
Is there a streamlined process for minimizing the amount of manually entering the information?
Thanks,
DW

Normally you should not need to re-enter manually. If you load your last msq, the settings will come over when in the same firmware family even if loading from an much older firmware. It is only new settings that have been added that you should have to set manually.
