PWM

Post by JohnStubbe »

I've got a MS2v3 and I think the code it 2.92000 if that sounds right. Using Tunerstudio Lite. The motor is a Mazda KLDE. The idle valve is supposed to be a PWM from what I found out. Pretty sure I have it wired up correctly. Anyway trying to get it to idle the other day. Got the crank pulse so it catches, bumped up the ASE so it stays for a few seconds, but it wouldn't stay running for more than 4 seconds. I turned the ASE taper up more and no real change. Maybe a 5-6 second run. I was looking at the PWM duty cycle graph and it was 150% or so. I turned the controller off (still not sure what can be changed while running) and when I turn it back on the idle valve is buzzing like crazy and the controller had a fit and wouldn't connect or run. I didn't know what to do and thinking the idle valve was going to kill the controller I just unplugged it(I do have that diode in the harness also, think its for safety). Turn the controller on and all everything is fine, car even runs for a 15-20 seconds or so. I'm thinking I have the settings messed up of something for the idle valve. Under my Idle settings its ,Algorithm-PWM warmup, fast idle-grayed out, time step-grayed out, acceleration step size-grayed out, minimum steps to move-grayed out, PWM freq-80 (hertz?),Start value(retract)-160,Cranking position extend steps-100,Crank run taper time-5, Hysteris-5. The time based after start is -40 which is supposed to make it "off" right? Also I've seen things on inverting the valve, but I can't seem to find an option (thinking maybe I accidentally changed it somehow)

Why is the valve making that noise?
If I plug it in and mess with the frequency will it kill my megasquirt?
How do I tune this thing?

Any ideas?

It would be mush easier to help if you post your MSQ and a datalog.

Here is the MSQ and log if I loaded it right. No O2 sensor either if thats what you were looking for,

First thing that jumped out at me is your MAP sensor is reading 9.4 kPa. You need to fix the MAP sensor reading to get this running.

Got it fixed. A map sensor pin was touching the bottom of a capacitor connection. Thanks for the help, I just didn't know what the map reading should look like.
