Re: odd ignition problem after engine reinstall

i tried reversing the plug wires at the coil pack but didnt get much success. when i swapped 1 and 4 with 2 and 3 at the coil, it really tried to run like total crap. got backfires thru the intake and all sorts of bad things. it was clear enough to tell me that it was def not the way to run the plug ...

mechanical type idle speed control

im hearing alot of bad things about stepper motors and about pwm idle valves being rather difficult to make act right. so ive set up a solenoid type fidle valve to help with cold starts and that works fine. however, i just added a/c and id like to raise the idle speeds by a couple hundred rpms to ...

Re: AEM UEGO 30-4100 not matching MT gauge (maybe solution?)

old topic i know...but new to ms and old to aem.

even aem ems has trouble with there o2wb.

the calibration table is correct, its just off a bit.

the change is gain on the 0-5v output from the 4100.

im no engineer to bare with me...in aem you almost always need to lower the gain by .02 as where ...

Re: vr sensor placement

sounds like that should work perfectly. with it 180* out from the 9th tooth, do i need to use the trigger wizard or anything from there ? or its just simply 180* out ?

Re: vr sensor placement

is that mount the sensor 180* from the 9th tooth or 180* from the skipped tooth?and what would i need to do with the trigger wizard, offset, etc. ?

vr sensor placement

im almost finished putting my edis setup in and after building a bracket for the vr sensor i realise that it wont fit due to some rather large fans on my radiator, hence no space for the sensor. after looking around for room i need to mount it pretty far down on the bottom. instead of mounting on ...

Re: edis sensor polarity ?

Let me know what car the sensor came off and I can look up its wiring diagram.

matt, its the regular escort edis sensor. however i did find a 96 model 6cyl taurus(non edis) that had what looked like almost the same sensor but was easier to get to than an escort one. i grabbed it just for ...

shielding questions.

this is a touch out of left field but, i want to ask and get some intelligent input on this.

a few days back i was helping a older friend work on his car and as we were working i was telling him about the noise issues i have with ms. my older friend is a retired nuclear sub tech. no idea what ...

Re: 418% duty cycle, wth???

im gonna try the jumper as you suggested but how about a stronger zener diode ? what effects would that have? and how about putting a filter in the 12v source to ms ? any suggestions on what size, watt, brand or etc. ? any other places that i can do something to get rid of this noise once and for ...

Re: 418% duty cycle, wth???

matt, any thoughts as to why this noise comes and goes. i can drive fine for a while, then other times it just shows up, creates havoc and then will go away.

Re: 418% duty cycle, wth???

ok, it happened again tonight. it def seems as though something is shutting down the injectors. at this point i have no idea whats up but whatever it is gives me some wicked high rpms and some serious pulsewidths to go with it. i got another datalog, so maybe it will show something. thinking maybe ...

Re: 418% duty cycle, wth???

its off the neg. side of coil. this is odd, but it goes away as soon as the car decides to straighten up and act right. then everything will return to normal. for a while at least. the rpm off the scale is reminiscent of when i had noise issues. however those were resolved by the 24v zener diode in ...

418% duty cycle, wth???

ok so sunday im driving home and my car starts acting realllly wacked and just wants to lean out and then go dead. it stranded me at a gas station for about 30 mins not wanting to run. it will crank and run for a moment like its burning off the prime pulse and as soon as that is gone it dies ...
