Re: Spyder style manifolds and injector choice

Then I found this quote on performancefuelsystems.com Tech corner:

In many production engine applications, injector spray patterns play a minimal role in combustion performance because the spray is usually not aimed at the intake valve. Instead, the spray is aimed at the intake runner wall or ...

Re: Spyder style manifolds and injector choice

This is just a theoretical physics/fluid dynamics kind of question, mind you. I would think if most "squirt-gun" type injectors didn't work well with the MPFI carb-style manifolds, the alerts would be all over the place on efi boards like this. Likewise, if a certain brand/spray pattern injector was ...

Spyder style manifolds and injector choice

Hello all. I couldn't find anything about this in searching, but I had a question about doing an EFI conversion (MPFI) using a carb-style intake and fuel rails...aka the "spyder" intakes like Edelbrock's Super Vic EFI. Will the injector spray pattern affect how well it runs? The reason for my ...

Could you share your MPFI tune? That's what I'm running on my 351.

Re: Holley 4 barrel throttle body

It appears the mystery is solved. Now for the info Holley won't divulge... :?

For the IAC, just ask the parts guy for one that fits a 2002 Dodge 1500 5.9L. BWD part # is 21821, Duralast # AC329. Pigtail connector appears to be identical to the GM IAC.

For the correct TPS, use one for a 1993 GMC ...

Here's a screenshot from Summit (gotta love their 360 views). You can see the type of TPS they use.

Re: Holley 4 barrel throttle body

Not sure what the etiquette is here for resurrecting an older post, but I figured since this Board is a database for all, I would add a couple of things. I also acquired a 1000 CFM 9900-171 off of Ebay for real cheap. The catch to "real cheap" is I have no TPS, IAC, or for that matter...throttle ...

Re: 5V source on MS2

We have a "TFI without a TFI" variation covered on our 5.0 Mustang writeup:

Matt, I have a follow up question if you're still following this thread. I read over the link you provided, and when it talks about ...

Thanks Matt, that's exactly what I needed. I mistakenly assumed that Mustang stuff was all PnP EECiv related so I skipped it in my studies. Ooops. :D

Re: 5V source on MS2

Thanks Matt. I was trying to decide whether to get an external mount TFI module that goes with this diz or just use the CDI box I already have. The closed-bowl dist. doesn't have a module with it, so with the CDI box it would merely be a PIP signal and spark distribution medium. As far as setting up ...

5V source on MS2

I have recently acquired a "closed bowl" Ford Hall-effect Distributor to use with my planned MS2 v3 on a 351W. It's all cleaned up and rebuilt, and I tested it today by hooking it up to the wife's car batt. The sensor did fine, showing 12v when the shutter blocked the sensor. The problem is, the PIP ...

Re: Question for Ford guys

Looks like the closed bowl TFI dist has 5 wires on it. The trick is figuring out which ones are power source, ground, and PIP trigger. Not having much luck finding a diagram yet. I'd like to be able to use it (and I'm sure I can) since I'm using a separate cdi box anyway.

Re: Question for Ford guys

After digging in a little more, I see that all I need is 2 wires (the Hall/VR trigger) to the dizzy and the "points" connection to my CDI module using the V3 board. All I have to do is figure out which 2 wires it would be on the dizzy. My inexperience with the EFI distributors is to blame. I'm ...

Question for Ford guys

Has anyone used a later Ford Hall-effect dizzy (where the ignition is separate, not TFI)? I have an external ignition box and single coil to use with my 351. The Megamanual talks about wiring a TFI module, but I wasn't sure how the later ('94-up) ones would/could be set up. This would be for MS2 v3 ...

Re: Newbie checking on...here's MS my plan.

Thanks for the replies. "Streetable" is the key here. I'd hate to lose 1500-3000 RPM drivability due to a manifold designed for 4000-9000 RPM, but like you say the carb rules don't necessarily apply. The Hurricane looks a little less 'extreme' than the Super Vic...so if what Patrick reports is true ...

Re: Newbie checking on...here's MS my plan.

Matt,
I hear ya. That's why I was toying with the idea of acquiring a Torker 2 for the lower power band (should still rev well past 6K). Need to get quotes on machine work and figure out which bungs would work best, what kind of injector angle I can get away with, etc. I would imagine the main ...

Newbie checking on...here's MS my plan.

Hi all, glad to be here. I've read the Megamanual, as well as Matt and Jerry's new book (excellent read for a new guy, btw). I know I'll still have plenty of research, questions, and homework, but luckily there's forums like this, plus I have a car with gobs of aftermarket support.

My project is a ...
