Re: Acceptable Grounds?

Sounds like you have an older version of our harness, with the six ground wires spliced to two inside the DB37.
ya, thanks :P

might consider putting a note in saying just that on the website :| oh ya, and put in a note that the 22-pin connector uses 1/4-20 nuts to secure it down (not included ...

Re: Acceptable Grounds?

gahhhh.... I've discovered a slight discrepancy between the pin-out listed on the DIY website and my actual harness :x The pin-out listed on the website shows 6-20 gauge grounds, my harness has 2-14ga grounds.... I had planned my 22-pin socket with 6 ground wires (not including wideband and ...

Re: Acceptable Grounds?

arg.... I have one of those 22-pin firewall sockets from DIYAutoTune and I was hoping to not use half of the pins just for grounds :? I was also trying to get away from having multiple bundles of ground leads bolted to my head (Aesthetics), perhaps I can find a way to bolt them directly to the block ...

Acceptable Grounds?

I am trying to simplify my MS wiring this weekend... is it acceptable to use a single ground bus (basically a heavy distribution block just for grounding multiple items like guages), with a single heavier gauge cable grounding at the block? or, does the MS need to have each ground wire separately ...

Re: table estimator

I would think you could "double/half" the values/totals as needed

i.e. if 500cc is the smallest, and you need 25, 1/20th the result
i.e. if 1200rpm is the highest, and you need 2200... use 1100 and double the result

so, if my theory would work....500cc @ 1100rpm, 1/10th the result?

I know for a ...

Re: wide band pulling lean.

after you set the "EGO" to wideband, you need to calibrate the "AFR tables" (in the top menu, same place where you calibrate your TPS and your temp sensors) for they type of wideband

Re: Agressive MAPdot Accel Enrichment

MAP only (no TPS)
Audi/VW 4-cyl 2.0L 8v, 8.5-9.0:1 compression (I'm getting conflicting numbers, theoretically it should be 9:1)
T3 Turbo, Wastegated at 7psi, can fully spool by 2200 rpm.
Aftermarket AutoTech 270* camshaft
Aftermarket HD valve springs and titanium retainers... valvetrain good to 8K ...

Agressive MAPdot Accel Enrichment

I'm hoping someone sees this soon... I have to take the car on a long drive on Sunday...

I discovered that my low end drivability issue is from the lack of acceleration enrichment... so I guess that means I'm close to being done tuning. I discovered that if I artifically richened up my mixture I ...

Re: Timing Advance vs Octane

sure do... 1.5 degrees retard per 10kpa (or 1 degree for 1 psi, 10kpa = 1.5psi)

you were able to add 5 degrees advance going from premium to E85? Theoretically you should be able to add almost that much to the Bins above 100kpa too. E85 is a finicky thing, it loves compression, makes it combust ...

Timing Advance vs Octane

Presently I'm tuning for Premium (91 Octane in Colorado) on my Turbo'd project.

Is there some "rule of thumb" or calculation that I can use to estimate how much advance I can gain under boost (more advance = more power) when using a higher octane fuel like E85 (estimated at 105-114 octane) or Race ...

ya, that is more or less what I quoted.

Low Imp injectors on v3.57

I'm not sure if I'm setting them up right? Bosch Low Imp (2.4ohm) injectors.

:RTFM:
PWM Time Threshold to 1.0 mSec
PWM Current Limit to 75% (30% if you have installed the 'Flyback Board' daughter card).

There was a reference to using only 30% (for v3.57) in the normal MegaMAnual, definite had ...

uhm... the Shield IS the sensor ground on the 2-wire knock sensors. The 3-wire litterally has two grounds... I question if one is just a sensor ground and one is just a shield, or are they both the sensor ground and need "fused" together at some point before the knockbox?

Re: 3-wire Knock Sensor vs 2-Wire Knock Sensor?

I have to be missing something somewhere....

:RTFM:
I'm looking into wiring a Knock Sensor into my MSII v3.57... I found a Knock Sensor amplification part called Knocksense and also I find Diagrams for making my own amplifier. What I can't figure out, I already have a knock sensor, but its 3-pin ...

Wow dude... I wish peeps would post where they get their crank wheels made (or buy them?). That looks real nice. I no longer work as a machinist, otherwise I would just make my own... anyone (even retail) selling crank wheels for ignition decoding on 8v & 16v VW engines?

VW temp sensors are matched to their Gauges, by VDO. (who knows, they may be made by Bosch? VDO?) I don't recall a manufacturor being stamped on them. If you have a Bentley service manual they should tell you the resistance values to test the gauge (from min to max), those values will match your ...
