My engine dyno is done, ready to tune.

Post by JTVOLVO »

Ok, I have completed my engine dyno and am ready to tune. (Volvo 2.0, B-20 E ITB Volvo with Bosch original injectors, 4 ohms resistance, I do have the flyback board on the MSII). I have MSII version 3.0. I had previously burned a basic MSII program and am using the Zeitronicx module to interpret the wideband O2 sensor to send to the MSII, I am using the relay board wired to the engine & the MsII. My MsII includes ignition control. Ok, now the fun starts. :yeah!: I want to know what I might run into as my basic problems. I have Megatune on my laptop as well as Megalog viewer. This is new territory for me so any help is appreciated so much.

Thanks,

James

We have an article on dyno tuning a Megasquirt here:

http://www.DIYAutoTune.com/tech_article ... tuning.htm

It's aimed at chassis dynos, but an engine dyno would be simpler if anything.

Thanks Matt,

So far so good on the wiring, I just have to hook up the engine side of things. One question; do I still leave my Autometer tach attached to the negative side of the ignition coil?

Thanks,

James

As long as you're not adding something like an MSD box or changing the number of coils, it should work great.

Hi James,
Just curious, can you tell us a little bit about your dyno?

Yes I will but let me get a few details finished. I wish I could post some photos of this project as it would be interesting and informative. Other than building the racecar, this has been the biggest project I have completed.

Let's see, I don't remember if I can post photos and haven't had time to look. Do you know?
