bank firing selection on v-8

Post by luv2trade442 »

Will it make any diff on a 455 olds how the bank1 and bank2 injectors are wired? Firing order is 18436572. Do i just wire each side 1357 as one bank and 2468 cylinders as the other bank? Any combonation better than another or is random injections just random injections? THX

There are numerous ways to wire up a V8; here are the most common.

Wiring it side to side (odd numbers on bank 1, evens on bank 2) will let you tune each bank with a second oxygen sensor if you're so inclined, not that you will necessarily have to do this but it gives you the option. The tradeoff is slightly less smooth flow through the fuel rails. Our Nova is wired this way and runs great. While it's set up so it can use dual O2 sensors, we've found it doesn't need this.

Another option intended to promote smoother fuel flow and match injectors to the firing order is to put 1, 4, 6, and 7 on bank 1 and 2, 3, 5, and 8 on bank 2. Some people report this gives a smoother running engine. Your results may vary.
