ITBs and fuel pressure regulators

Post by bcal »

Anyone running a fixed pressure regulator on an ITB setup?
Are there any advantages/disadvantages over a MAP regulated regulator.

I don't personally have one on a car but the advantage is supposed to be that when the motor is in vaccum idiling or cruising it reduces the fuel pressue so that the difference between the intake pressure and fuel pressure is the same as anywere throughout the load rpm range wot would be 0 intake pressure and say 40 in the rails and idle would be 10 or 12 inches of vacuum and maybe like 35 psi in the rails still 40 psi difference this is the theory but with itb s the idle vacuuum is usually not real stable so I 'm not sure if it would help you or hurt you maybe it would help on cruising rpm area tuning for easier ve table but i guess it would be a trial and error type deal. I'm running a RRFPR, but not with ITB's. My fuel pressure is constant until I make boost.

I'm running ITB's with the diode SynchroMAP board so I don't have an accumulator. I'm using an Aeromotive regulator. Initially I tried connecting it to the vacuum line from one runner but the pressure bounced so much at idle it caused surging. So I've done all my tuning since without the vacuum connection at 43.5 PSI with no problems. Idles great.

I thought the vacuum connection was optional unless you ran oversized injectors and needed to reduce FP at idle.
