Hi,
I have my engine running and I'm tuning X-Tau.
I do not understand what the 'dot' stands for or where it comes from.
I hope I'll feel really stupid when I found out.

Just think of the tuning screens, the red dot darts around all over when you stab the gas. How fast its accelerating/decelerating is your 'mapdot'.

It's a calculus notation - the first derivative of a function. Or in math-phobe terms, "dot" means "how fast it changes."

Those answers are perfect.
I am 'just' getting by as I do not understand derivatives.
I have the recommended SAE papers and I will start studying these and the
manual again with a new outlook.
