Setting timing with distributor

Post by WASyL »

MSII 2.89 code + TPI adapter board

as i recieve issues i need to confirm one thing that i'm not sure of before start looking other places.
i'm not able to control timing with trigger wizard so i need to do it by rotating distributor. after warming up the engine i set spark adv map to lets say 20 deg. on adjustable timing lamp i set it to 20 deg also and start to fire, where should i see the mark on balancer(damper) ??
0 deg or 6 deg as on stock setup of my engine??

best regards

You should see the timing at the same point that your tuning software says the timing is at.

No, you should see the spark at 20 degrees, like what the spark advance map is set to in MegaTune. You may be overthinking this. Just get the timing light and MegaTune to show the same amount of spark advance.
