Re: 700r Spare Port Config for TCC

I loaned the Stim to a friend so I'm working with the ECM in the vehicle. With the ignition key in the "ON" position I've attempted to set the spare port to trigger from the TPS (as a verification of the circuit). The LED is still in place but I used the 1k resistor from the ACCEL ENRICH c...

700r Spare Port Config for TCC

I have added a transistor circuit in the proto area for locking up a torque conerter (700r4). I'm using a MS-2 and have verified the wiring/connection out through the DB37 (which will drive the relay that switches the trans). I'm using the PM5 port out to pin 5 on the DB37. I have attempted to confi...

Re: New to MS Tuning

Hello William, Trakkies has provided you with some good info; keep us posted on your progress. I've been 'stuck' a few times myself (okay, alot of times :D ). Some of the people on this forum have been extremely helpful to me. I have not installed a MS on a DIS (or EDIS) application so I can only be...

2.888 INI Needed

Can anyone share a 2.888 INI file with me? It's a long story......

Cheers

Re: New to MS Tuning

Can you pull a plug/coil from a cylinder, ground the plug, and observe a spark when cranking the engine? You may also want to pull all the plugs out until you can veirify #1 cylinder is getting spark at the right time (this will save your starter). If you have no spark, double check you ignition con...

Re: Chevy 383 IAC TPI Idle problem ?????

You may also want to recalibrate the open/closed values for the TPS after the physical adjustments to the idle screw. Also, check for a vacuum leak in the intake system anywhere down stream of the throttle body. TPI's have more 'opportunities' for leaks then other types of intakes. With the engine i...

Re: No spark with v2.89 and direct coil control

Postman, I had a similar issue with the ignition signal. I finally traced problem down to a short with the shielding on the ignition trigger wire. My set up worked fine on the Stim (w/o the wiring harness). Check your harness for shorts and pay close attention to the shield on the ignition trigger w...

Re: EDIS-8 to MSD 6AL

Taken from the manual under the "Wiring and Sensors" section: Note that for MS-II, the DB37 pin #36 is an output, used to control an ignition module, or control a coil directly (if the high current ignition driver circuit is installed). It only needs to be connected if you are controlling...

Re: EDIS-8 to MSD 6AL

Coffee has really kicked in this AM...... If you go down the HEI 4 pin module route not only do you match the example in the MS documentation, you get a small cap dizzy and access to low cost parts. I see HEI's at swap meets and on Craigslist for $15-$30. At that price you can afford two, one for th...

Re: EDIS-8 to MSD 6AL

I'm speculating that you'd have to make some changes to the input curcuit on your MS-II to handle the MSD input and a dizzy. Read up on the subject here: http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/V3assemble.htm#input There are links within the page that you'll have to follow which show how to config the input c...

Re: 2N222 for spare ports

I just checked out the link that 66fb sent, thanks.... I'm using the FIDLE on the relay board to provide a 5v ref for my 7-pin HEI ignition. My bad for not including my set up. So now that the horse is loose, I'll close the gate....here's my set up: MS-II V3 w/relay board, 2.88 code, GM TPI hardware...

Re: 2N222 for spare ports

Good input, thanks for both previous responses.

BTW - I'm using the GM IAC so that's not an option. Looks like the MOSFET device is a better way to go.

Thanks

2N222 for spare ports

I'm planning on using two of the spare ports to drive a (relay controlled) electric cooling fan and a (relay controlled) TCC.

Does anyone have any experience with using 2N222 transistors to drive devices on the spare port circuits (V3 board).

Thanks

Re: Relay Board w/7 pin HEI Module

I'm ready to put the whole mess on a flatbed and send it one way. You could take the bed off, shorten the frame, cage it, lift it, and head up in the hills. I really appreciate the offer and I'll think it over. I was just out in the shop making an adapter for an old 2bbl. As much as I don't want to ...

Re: Relay Board w/7 pin HEI Module

D1 & D2 are both jumpered and I have a new module. Came to find out the old module was fine so now I have two known good 7-pin modules. A friend has also loaned me 7-pin and 4-pin dizzys so I can spin them separate from the engine. I rigged up both and still did not seeing the RPM in MT. I pinne...

Re: Relay Board w/7 pin HEI Module

I think I put batt voltage across pin 24, smoked the trace on the relay board. This project has been bogged down for too long, I need the vehicle, not a goose chase. At lease I had it running with a factory ECM. I might go back to that set up when I cool down or just drop a carb on and go. I tried b...

Re: Relay Board w/7 pin HEI Module

FLoppy,

No problem on the post, it's all yours. I just smoked my relay board and have finally had enough. I'm going back to a carb for now, this project has taken way to much time and I need the vehilcle.

Wanna buy a ms-II V3 REALLY cheap!

Re: Install location

By placing the relay board on the engine you'd be subjecting it to heat and vibration which are the enemy of electronics. Regardless of how much heat and vibration the relay board can hold up to, you'd be subjecting it to conditions that will eventually cause a failure. It's much safer to mount the ...
