Ford Idle Air Control

Post by squatch88 »

I am new to this whole concept of DIY EFI and so far i have figured it all out but, where does the ford idle air controler wire up to the relay board? I have the V3 MS-II and am very confused. does it go to the IAC Stepper leads or do i have to wire it to the conputer itself?
Anyone can just turn the key and go, but it takes determination to understand why it goes!

You'll need the PWM IAC mods to the main board and this jumper on the relay board:

The output comes out on the FIDLE pin. Fords do not use a stepper IAC.

Could you please clarify specifically on the wiring of a 2-wire Ford PWM Idle Control Valve?

The way I understand this now, one lead goes from the FIDLE pin on the relay board, and the other lead must then have to go to +12V, right? And then a 1N4001 Diode is installed between those leads, with the band facing the 12V+?

Is that correct?

Also, what is the resistor I see on the FIDLE terminal in the above picture? (I'm hoping it's for a different kind of valve!)

Thanks!!

You're correct about the wiring.

That resistor is for an older mod that used FIDLE for spark control and is not used with actual fast idle valves. We "recycled" the jumper picture as the jumper itself doesn't change.
